Archives for the month of: January, 2011

This Oriental hornbeam was collected in March 2010. In less then one year we have initially styled it and repotted into bonsai pot by Isabelia.

On Noelanders Trophy 2011 Ryan Neil (USA) has demonstration on two trees, Mugo pine and Juniperus phoenicea. Both trees were excellent material for demo. Walter Pall was moderator; he helped making show more dynamic by asking many questions to Ryan, about his life in Japan, apprenticeship at master Kimura, horticultural and aesthetic aspects of bonsai. One thing we liked a lot; while talking about shaping the tree Ryan pointed: “You don’t show your work, but your tree”.

With our friend Matija from Slovenia, we went to Noelanders Trophy for the first time, and travelled all together 3500km . This was our first visit to such big event, and also the first attendance with our Pistachio tree. Also for the first time tree from Croatia has taken a part on bonsai exhibition. It is great experience to see our tree among other quality trees from all around Europe.
Atmosphere was amazing, people were very friendly. Apart from exhibition, very good demonstrators: Ryan Neil (USA), Michele Andolfo (IT), Serge Clemence (CH), and young bonsai artists: Sebastien Dalbera (MC), Enzo Ferrari (CH) give us opportunity to see their knowledge and skills and learn from them. Walter Pall was also on the stage as moderator. Ryan Niel has left special impression to us, also Sebastien Dalbera’s work was interesting to us.

The first wiring on big Oriental hornbeam is done today. We will transplant it into bonsai pot in Autumn.

Pistacia is chosen to participate on Noelanders Thropy 2011 in Belgium. For the first time we are exhibiting one of our trees on a big show. This afternoon we have done last preparations.

Collected in March 2010. Transplanted in bonsai pot at beginning of October when tree stopped growing. Styled today.

This hornbeam was collected in March 2010. At the end of growing season the lowest branch/trunk was removed, and tree transplanted into bonsai pot. We have styled in now. Many of these branches in the middle part of the tree (long ones, without taper) will be shortened soon, but first we are waiting back buds, to be sure that branch will not dry.
