This is cultivated variety of Olive tree (Olea europea sativa) collected in 2007. As opposed to Wild olive variety (Olea europea Oleaster) this tree is not so popular for bonsai because of much bigger leaves and less abundant backbudding. So for some time we have considered grafting Wild olive branches on this tree, and give it up now. On this variety it is much easier to obtain flowers and fruits, and that can be interesting too.

Hi,
you wrote “collected in 2007″… how was it collected? Was it just a cutting or a complete small tree with roots and all?
Thanks for your reply,
Adam
It was collected with just a little small, fine roots. But for olive that is not problem.
Does it root easily? I just got a small (like 1 ft long) cutting of a 60-year old tree, what are my chances with that? (Sorry for asking too much, I am rather a novice to bonsai.)
Thanks,
Adam
From which part of the tree is cutting taken?
