This season we have find and collected many new trees. This carpinus is one of them. Tree looked attractive  in nature, but when we have bring it home and look at it better uprighted in the new position, we were not so satisfied. Whole crown with trunk looked little bit flat. So we decided to merge this tree with one little carpinus that we have collected near to this one. Both trees have very similar character of the trunk and branches, so it was possible to merge it. We are content with the result, at the end nebari is also improved.

To be sure that both trees will survive we have put it into heating bed in December 2011. At last picture is tree in heating bed today, with the new shoots. It will stay there in moist environment until full recovery.

Oriental Hornbeam today and virtual.

We have repotted this tree into much better pot and slightly change position. This is Olea sylvestris and it has really small leaves.

In the new issue on Bonsai Focus 1/2012 Jan/Feb is published photo of our Pistacia lentiscus on two pages. Photo is taken on exhibition Bonsai Autumn 7 this Summer in Switzerland.
In a few days we are taking this tree on another big exhibition Noelanders Throphy XIII in Belgium. New table for exhibition is done in Croatia. We are looking foward to this event.

Oriental Hornbeam before and after cut back. Last photo is virtual in new pot.

After three growing seasons the crown is becoming more dense an better. We have started shaping crown from zero, only 3 trunks were there (see more photos is gallery – Carpinus orientalis #2), without single thin branch. We have collected this Carpinus orinetalis because of impressive nebari, although we thought that 3 main trunks are not in good harmony and that it will be complicated to make a credible crown. But as new branches started to grow, our perspective have changed, and we can clearly see potential now. Last photo is virtual of future look.

Here is now article about bonsai hornbeam published into croatian agriculture magazine.

BONSAI: Carpinus orientalis / bjelograb

This Olea sylvestris was collected in 2010.  After first growing season we have repoted it, shortened new shoots, wired, and carved big cut. It was to much, so it stars stagnating, and some branches die our.  We reacted quickly, and shorten all branches on one leave at the beginning of this growing season. New shoots have started during middle of vegetation period. It looks healthy now and ready for wiring.
