Four days we have worked with our teacher Walter Pall on our tree collection. Our friend Matija Triglav from Slovenia, also has come to help. We have worked on many trees, discuss about possibilitess, try to chose best one and repot tree using it’s best potential. Some trees after this changes, showed us completely new identity.
At Saturday afternoon Toni, Nikola, Marko and Bruno have come to watch a workshop. Bruno has brought 3 of his trees, so we have repot then and analize together.
So it seems that that this Autumn greenhouse workshop with WP will become a tradition.

On his blog Walter has put extensive report of all work done, so here are the links:

Last weekend we we Belgrade on 5. South – East European Bonsai Convention with Walter Pall. After four conventions in Croatia this one took place in Serbia. There were bonsai people from Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Czech Republic. The first day Walter started with a two hour lecture ‘Styles – Naturalistic Bonsai Style’, then Walter talked about other peoples trees  – ‘tree inspirations’ followed. In the evening we had a dinner at center of Belgrade, in vintage street of Skadarlija. Maybe by photos one can get impression that it was a fuddle, but we all know that we were just integrating knowledge acquired during the day.
On Sunday ‘tree inspiration’ continued. In afternoon there was some combination of Walter’s demonstration and workshop.
On monday morning Aca (or as Walter renamed him – Rasputin) has invited us to see his garden.
Hosts were excellent, and we had beautiful time there!

Here is now article about bonsai hornbeam published into croatian agriculture magazine.

BONSAI: Carpinus orientalis / bjelograb

Last weekend in Zagreb, Sebastian organized demo & workshop with Kevin Wilson.
He has power by just working on deadwood to transform poor material into good material, and very good material into excellent one.

This Olea sylvestris was collected in 2010.  After first growing season we have repoted it, shortened new shoots, wired, and carved big cut. It was to much, so it stars stagnating, and some branches die our.  We reacted quickly, and shorten all branches on one leave at the beginning of this growing season. New shoots have started during middle of vegetation period. It looks healthy now and ready for wiring.

Root removed to improve nebari.
